Working with Mr. Hall really made the college application process easier. His articulate advice helped me pinpoint the weaknesses in my application, allowing me to address them and ultimately get in to the college I wanted.
Gabriel helped me tremendously throughout my college application process. His suggestions on my essays, activities list, and his overall attitude gave me confidence when applying to colleges!
Gabriel’s assistance in my college application process was truly unparalleled and extremely attentive. He helped me at every stage of the process from formulating my personal statement towards the end of my junior year to deciding what to write in the additional information section of the application. It is because of Gabriel that I was able to maximize my potential and ultimately land a spot at Columbia University with a likely letter and Scholars Program.
Mr. Hall was a lifesaver during the college admissions process! He responded to emails super quickly, was always super encouraging and great to work with, and he knew how to add the cherry on top to my applications. Overall, I’m so grateful that he was able to take a ton of the stress out of the college application process and help me craft a successful application for Johns Hopkins!
Mr. Hall was instrumental towards my college application process, guiding me towards my eventual commitment to the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley. Full of wisdom and timely encouragement, Gabe not only navigated me physically through the hooks and anecdotes of my essays, but also spiritually in one of the most stressful times of my life. I’m honored to have been matched with such an incredible advisor, and now, a lifelong friend.
Gabe is a positive force! He has a keen understanding of how best to help every student he works with, and went above and beyond the realm of college apps with scholarship and interview support. He's a cheerleader and advocate for every student, and exactly who you want in your corner in stressful times. With his guidance I am attending UC Berkeley and Environmental Economics and Policy!
When applying to Notre Dame as a computer science major, Mr. Hall particularly gave me clear strategic directions on how to present a fantastic tech-tailored activity section while applying test-optional. He instilled in me the much-needed confidence to carry on and apply even without a strong test-score for such a rigorous program. Now, today, I am a student of the premier catholic institution in the world and I thank Mr. Hall for making what seemed inconceivable, doable and realistic and always telling me: “Focus on your strengths, and then use your weaknesses in order to strengthen you.”
Gabe helped tremendously through my college admissions process, always making time to read over my essays and meet with me. He brought my family the experience and expertise we needed and helped me put together a strong application. But, more than that, Gabe always encouraged me and helped me find my future home in the University of Notre Dame, where I’ll be attending this fall.
I started working with Mr. Gabriel Hall towards the end of my junior year and from the start, I noticed the type of positive energy he brought into each session and his dedication to bring my voice in each of my essays! In my personal essay, he was the one to truncate each draft to fit the word requirement and he would do it in such a way that it would still maintain to crux of my original draft. He once reduced my 1250 word essay down to a perfect 650 word essay in a very short span of time, and without his efficiency, I genuinely don't think I would've able to get into Northeastern University.
Gabe gave me the confidence and advice that I needed throughout the college application process to get me accepted into my dream college, SMU. Gabe always had meaningful comments and assisted me in submitting my best work to all 18 colleges I applied to in order to get the acceptances I hoped for. By the end of our time together, I had a large number of schools to pick from and was able to attend my top choice. Gabe is a great contact and mentor, and I am forever grateful for everything he has done through out the application process.
Working with Gabe has truly been a blessing. As I am preparing to embark on my collegiate journey at NYU, I truly have him to thank for getting me this far. From the small things like word choices in my essays, to much larger dilemmas like deciding whether or not to send my test scores, I am immensely grateful for Gabe’s invaluable mentorship & insights.
Having Gabriel as my college advisor was a game-changer. Without previous guidance, I was lost on how to approach my essays, but Gabriel helped me dig deep into my qualities and share them effectively. He taught me how to structure my essays, craft a compelling resume, and use concise yet profound language. His support throughout the recruitment and application process was invaluable and equipped me with skills that will benefit me for life and as I head off to Emory University!
Gabe is an excellent advisor who helped me through the daunting college process. He helped me highlight my achievements and research which colleges would be right for me. I was accepted into the Purdue engineering program which was one of my top choices. His positive energy made me excited to work every time we met and I could not recommend him more!
I was so lucky to have gotten to work with Gabriel as my college advisor because of his commitment and passion to his job and especially his students. Without fail, with any questions I had he would respond to my emails asap and always make me feel supported. With that being said, I am so grateful to have worked with someone who believed in me, is kind, and diligent.
Gabe was among the most important people in my college application process. He always listened, motivated, encouraged, and supported me in recognizing my potential and letting my light shine before the college and scholarship admission officers. Gabe was truly a reliable compass, guiding and empowering me as I prepared for life beyond high school.
While working as an academic counselor in the guidance office at Deep Creek High School, I had the privilege of working with Gabe Hall for five years. He is an exceptionally gifted communicator and knowledgeable in the field of college admissions and financial aid. He is able to assist students and parents in the pursuit of the best possible fit for a top quality post-secondary education. His experience ranges from working with low-income families who need help navigating financial resources to highly gifted academic students who need guidance in making the best decision for the right university. Gabe Hall is passionate about helping students make good choices, and he cares about helping them meet their long-term goals in life.
My name is Isaiah Usher, and I am finishing up my first semester of my sophomore year at Virginia Tech, studying Industrial and Systems Engineering. I am very involved here at Tech as I participate in clubs, intramurals, volunteer work, and have a leadership role within a Living Learning Community. I am beyond grateful for the guidance and assistance Mr. Gabriel Hall has given to me on my path to becoming a well-rounded college student. To me, Mr. Hall goes above and beyond as he builds your trust and makes you feel confident in all your decisions. Mr. Hall always made sure anything dealing with financial aid or college was submitted either on-time or in advance. Whatever I did not know, he knew, and would make sure to explain in detail until I understood. His commitment, dedication, and delivery to his students makes him one of the main reasons for my success thus far, and I am very appreciative for that. Any student that gets the chance to work with Mr. Hall will only benefit from the advice he gives. With that being said, I fully support his future endeavors of his new foundation to help and assist others and wish nothing but the best of luck for him.
After applying to colleges I was confused and unsure of where to begin. Application fees and filing my first FAFSA seemed daunting. Mr. Hall helped me get application waivers and has helped me in years since though renewing my FAFSA and with graduate program inquiries. I can't thank him enough for all he has done for me. He pushed me to apply to six undergraduate schools instead of three, and if he hadn’t I wouldn’t be at Old Dominion now. Even though Mr. Hall works with high school students, he has been accessible to me ever since I was in high school almost four years ago. We meet yearly and discuss any financial needs and opportunities, which I am very thankful for! College is a great path to go on, but it can be logistically confusing. Mr. Hall never hesitates to answer questions for me, advocate for me, and guide me in the right direction. I will be graduating soon and going to grad school with close to no debt, and I couldn’t have done that without him!
Back in my senior year in High School, Gabriel was the help I never knew I needed. He helped me prioritize what was important - a higher education. As a first-generation immigrant, I did not know my options for college. I did really well in high school achieving a GPA of over 4.0 and serving as the student body president. But I was only considering one college because it was familiar and I did not think I could get into anywhere else. He helped me realize my potential and navigated me to various schools to widen my options by providing resources and connecting me with alumni. In the end, he helped me get accepted to numerous colleges and steered me to a prestigious university. Furthermore, he had assisted me in finding and securing scholarships through his networks. I couldn't be more thankful.
As a current fourth-year student in the Residential Honors Program at Hawai’i Pacific University, I am a person who values hard-work, dedication, and passion in all that I do. I will be the first person from my family to graduate from college. I came from a low-income, dysfunctional household that made seeking an education nearly impossible. Despite the adversity, I was able to thrive. I saw every day as a new opportunity to better myself, never letting anything get in the way of me achieving my goals. I came to Mr. Hall with this determination, and from there I soared! Throughout the college admissions and scholarship processes of my senior year in high school, Mr. Hall made my dreams his. Introducing me to multiple people and organizations, he was my greatest advocate for going to college debt-free. Knowing what I expected to get from my education, he spoke on my behalf to various colleges to figure out which institution would be the best fit for me. It was with his hard-work, dedication, and passion that I was able to get accepted into all of my top universities and receive the most scholarships of any student in my high school’s history! It is because of him that I was able to move to Hawai’i, experience the world, and follow my dreams while receiving a college degree.Gabriel Hall is a unique soul. He is truly one of the most astounding people I have ever met. Between his passion for his work and his love for his students, he found his niche as an educational consultant. He is an excellent role model and guide for students’ futures because he is encouraging, knowledgeable, determined, trustworthy, sociable, and confident. These attributes make up the perfect leader, and that leader is Mr. Hall.
I am an African American, first generation, male college student from a low-income upbringing, and I am a sophomore at Virginia Tech. I'm majoring in Public Relations with a double minor in International Studies and Leadership and Social Change. At Virginia Tech, some of the things I'm involved in include: community liaison for the Black Organizations Council (BOC), Food House President of the Leadership and Social Change Residential Living Learning Community, and an academic tutor for the Upward Bound Program.Mr. Hall was my College Counselor while I was at Deep Creek High School, but even after I left high school and continued my academic career, he has still been an advisor for me on his free time and has helped with maintaining scholarships, renewing my fafsa, and giving me general advice about navigating college life. During my time at Deep Creek High School, Mr. Hall worked diligently with me to help me fill out college applications and scholarships, and he also helped with signing up for the SAT and ACT. No matter how busy he was during the day, he always made time for me and never let me get behind. There were times where I wanted to quit and just give up, and he almost wanted it more than me and encouraged me to keep pushing through. Through his help and guidance, I was able to accrue over $35,000 in scholarships and a full ride to Virginia Tech. I heavily credit him with why I'm able to go to college now.
I am a fourth-year student studying psychology and public policy at George Mason University. Driven by my experience as a Haitian-American and a first-generation college student from a low-income background, I serve as president of F1rst Gen Mason, a student organization dedicated to the success of first-generation college students. Mr. Hall was my College Counselor and supported me while I was applying to colleges and scholarships. He always made himself available and was a person my family and I trust. His dedication to getting me into college is why I am graduating in May 2020.
